The hype started back in July and it started slowly. An instagram post here and there, a mystery follower. Who or what was this Central Beach Club? Then came the article in Sunshine Coast Daily and interest in what was happening behind the doors at what used to be Bellissimo in the Landmark building on The Esplanade started to build. (As an aside, these guys really know how to max their social media profile…just saying.)
Anyways, the wait is now over and Central Beach Club is open.
There’ll no doubt be posts in Urbanlist and whatever about the cocktails and music, but I’m here to talk about the food – although that doesn’t mean that I won’t be checking out the cocktail list too some time when I have a designated driver.
The menu itself has a sort of Cuban flavour – which feels perfect for the beach side location. With a great all day breakfast menu and fabulous coffee, the early part of the day is well taken care of.
As for the rest? Sure there are burgers and soft shell tacos – as all tacos should be – and toasties, but it’s the share style plates and pizzas that are the most fun. We shared some very more-ish chicken wings with a siracha mayo, and a pizza.
It was perfect – and not just because I’d just flown in from a week working back in Sydney and was desperate for some beach vibe and summer food. Let’s face it, the Jetstar inflight menu just doesn’t cut it.
As for the wine and beer list? It’s not huge, but it’s good – and well chosen for the fabulous views and vibes of Mooloolaba Beach. Yes, Sunday sessions here could be very laid back indeed.
